Thank you to everyone that participated in or supported #IronQuest last month. You can enjoy the treasure trove of business dashboards in the recap post here.
Thank you also to everyone who submitted theme suggestions or voted in the theme poll this month. I’m excited to announce that during March we’ll be visualising “Environmental Issues”, as selected in a recent Twitter poll:
As we are all too aware, our environment is changing constantly. With an increase in natural disasters, adverse weather conditions and increasing temperatures, environmental issues are a real worry. I’m hoping this theme will help to shine light on some important topics and also to drive change.
- You can use any data set which fits the theme (as long as you have permission to share it publicly).
- Always remember to credit your data source/s on your viz.
- Don’t use any images or logos on your viz unless you have permission to do so.
- Remember the Iron Viz judging criteria and try to focus on all three; design, storytelling and analysis.
- Think outside the box!
If you are struggling for ideas, here are a few environmental concerns to help you to get started:
- Air Pollution
- Water Pollution
- Soil & Land Pollution
- Climate Change
- Global Warming
- Carbon Footprint
- Threats to Marine Life
- Public Health Issues
- Household & Industrial Waste
If you are looking for some data sources, these should help:
Who is the guest judge?
I’m excited to announce that I’ll be teaming up with 2018 Iron Viz “Best Newcomer” and viz-extraordinaire Kevin Flerlage this month! Kevin is no stranger to vizzing about environmental issues. He has vizzed about water (access to clean water, water shortages, water pollution) on multiple occasions and his famous Lorax viz focuses on deforestation.
When is the submission deadline?
The deadline for submissions is Midnight PST on Sunday 31st March.
Feedback will be provided (to those who request it) by Kevin and I in early April.
Continue the conversation by joining the Iron Quest Slack channel here.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing your entry!
